Seismic Response of GFRP-RC Interior Beam-to-Column Joints under Cyclic Static Loads

چکیده
A total of nine specimens were constructed and tested under cyclic loads to investigate the differences in seismic behavior between glass fiber-reinforced polymer (GFRP)-reinforced concrete (RC) joints RC beam-to-column joints. The experimental parameters included stirrup ratios, axial pressure ratios strength loading test results showed that GFRP-RC can withstand significantly high lateral deformations without exhibiting brittle failure. Moreover, joint exhibited higher energy dissipation residual displacement than by 50% 60%, respectively. Finally, a shear capacity calculation method for core zone this kind was proposed, which agreed well with results.

Numerical Simulation with Fibre Beam-column Models of Thin Rc Column Behaviour under Cyclic Tension-compression
Damage to structural walls in the recent earthquakes in Chile (2010) and New Zealand (2011) demonstrated that modern reinforced concrete (RC) wall behaviour can be largely governed by out-of-plane displacements triggered by instability. Thin walls are the most vulnerable to this deformation mechanism, especially if they have a single layer of reinforcement. These wall types can be easily found ...
متن کاملFragility Functions for Older Rc Beam-column Joints
A critical step in performance-based seismic design is the prediction and definition of earthquake performance using terms that are meaningful to building owners. Recently, economic impact, defined as the cost of repairing earthquake damage and the building downtime required to complete the repair work, has been adopted as a meaningful measure of building performance. To enable earthquake engin...
متن کاملStrengthening Of RC Beam Using GFRP Wraps
Fiber reinforced polymer materials are continuing to show great promise for using strengthening reinforced concrete structures. These materials are an excellent option for use as external reinforcing, because of their light weight, resistant to corrosion and high strength. The main aim of this study is to investigate the flexural characteristic of RC beams using GFRP sheets and strips. This pap...
متن کاملSeismic Upgrade of Beam-Column Joints with FRP Reinforcement
Many opportunities are becoming available for using composite materials to strengthen/upgrade existing reinforced concrete (RC) structures. This paper focuses on a new technique for the seismic upgrade of RC beam-column connections in gravity load-designed (GLD) frames by the application (combined or not) of FRP rods and laminates. The FRP rods provide flexural strengthening, whereas the lay-up...
متن کاملShear Strength Prediction of RC Beam-column Sandwich Interior Joints Based on Simplified Softened Strut-and-Tie
Due to the scarcity of rational models for predicting the strength of RC beam-column sandwich joints, a modified simplified softened strut-and-tie model suggests a more rational calculation method for the effective compressive strength and the height of the joint concrete based on the simplified softened strut-and-tie. The shear strength of existing tested 15 sandwich interior joints is calcula...
